IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student Members, often supported by an IEEE Student Branch, compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve an engaging set of programming problems. This year, the 10th edition of the competition, IEEEXtreme 10.0 was organised on 22nd October 2016(22 Oct, 5:30AM IST to 23 Oct, 5:30AM IST).
A total of 14 teams(40 students) participated in the contest, from BMSCE. Each team comprised of 2-3 IEEE Student Members. The event was organised at FDC Hall in the college campus.
The venue was prepared before the start of the event and Internet facility, snacks, Red Bull drinks and other refreshments were arranged for the participants.
The event started at 5:30 AM on 22 October in FDC Hall. All the participants were very excited and most of the teams arrived at the venue early in the morning. They were introduced to the general rules of IEEEXtreme. The volunteers helped all contestants to connect to the campus Internet.
Throughout the day, the contestants were regularly provided with snacks and refreshments, which included an assortment of biscuits, chips, coffee and Chewing gum. In the evening, they were provided with sufficient Red Bull to help them stay active through the night. For dinner, pizza was ordered from Dominos.
A total of 10 teams stayed overnight. Girls were not allowed to stay after 7:30 PM. A faculty from the Department of ECE stayed at the venue overnight along with the contestants. The competition finally got over at 5:30 AM on Sunday, 23 October 2016.
All the teams left the venue by 6 AM and the venue was cleaned and handed over to the concerned authority. Everyone enjoyed the event a lot and overall it was a refreshing and memorable experience for everyone involved.
